Born Again faith leader apostle Dr Joseph Sserwadda has called upon the various political actors in the country to exercise tolerance as the country engages in political activities for the next general elections.

"Elections are approaching. Various politicians and political groups will start gatherings. In the past, some people have been tortured and others killed because of politics. If someone doesn't support you, it should not cause you to persecute them. It is their right not to support you," Sserwadda stated.

Sserwadda made the remarks during his Christmas sermon at his Ndeeba based Victory Christian Centre.

Calling for fair political contests, the Presiding Apostle of the Born Again advised that if one political camp makes inroads in releasing popular political songs, the competitors can also counter with music or do better than them in other things.

"Let there be political tolerance. Don't persecute competitors. Don't shed blood. If you realize you are losing support, accept to be defeated," Sserwadda said.

Arguing that the Public Order Management Bill has been often used to curtail freedom of assembly and association, Sserwadda called for the reviewing of the law.

Giving the Bible example of King Herod who mad ploys to have Jesus killed so he couldn't become king, Sserwadda urged Uganda leaders who are advanced in years not envy and persecute young ones because their callings are for different generations.

Recalling the recent anti-corruption walk and remarks made on the day, Sserwadda dismissed the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah's remarks that "we are all corrupt."

"Whereas the corrupt are many in government, there are so many Ugandans who are God-fearing and not corrupt. They need to be given a chance," Sserwadda.

Arguing that Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan, he admonished Christian believers to walk a righteous life that pleases God so they can inherit the kingdom of God.

On the government plans for introducing sex education in schools, Sserwadda said it should be limited to students who are 13 years and above and save those below it from it.
