Celebrating Christmas with care

Dec 19, 2019

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, accidents have been registered as a result of drink-driving.

Christmas comes with jubilation, chanting and having fun because it is one of the most important celebrations worldwide.

Unfortunately, it not only comes with partying but also with reckless behaviour such as overdrinking, spending money aimlessly.

Hosting guests at home

We have all visited homes that we don't want to return to because we were not served food. To prevent such embarrassments, prepare enough food for your guests this Christmas.

Never allow them (your guests) to leave without eating anything at your home.

Remember guests have children

Set up playing toys for their children. Parents have fun, enjoy and remain contented that their children are also safe.

Drinking

As a host, keep an eye on guests drinking alcohol. Ensure or advise that they have a sober driver back home.

According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, accidents have been registered as a result of drink-driving.

Owoyesigyire says precaution measures should be followed.

"As you are planning to have fun, do not forget that there is tomorrow.

Do not forget servicing your car, wear seat belts as you drive," advises Owoyesigyire.

Though accidents occur daily, Owoyesigyire explains that more accidents happen during festivities as people drink and drive recklessly.

Additionally, Owoyesigyire says there is also a lot of robbery, burglary and break-ins during the festive season as some people leave their homes unattended when they go for parties.

Owoyesigyire, therefore, urges the public to call the police in case of any robbery or break-in.
