You can go to Masaka without going through city centre

The alternative routes are Natete-Kaboja-Kyengera for travelers in the city centre, Kiira-Kasangati-Matuga-Masulita-Nsangi for those in Kiira Municipality, Kayunga and Jinja road.

Christmas is here, the roads are getting congested every other day. But New Vision is here to provide you with alternative routes that lead you to Masaka, Mpigi and Sembabule districts, by avoiding traffic jam.

It is business unusual in several market places, shopping malls and arcades as Ugandans prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Kikuubo, one of the business areas in the city centre is more or less impassable with several trucks loading merchandise and while others offload.

There is competition for space with pedestrians looking for what to wear and eat, among other household items for the festive season.

Competition is not only felt at shopping malls but also at both taxi and bus parks. There are long ques of people waiting for the next bus, or taxi to their next destinations.

As the day draws near, traffic will be terrible in the centre and it will be worse on busy roads such as Masaka road.

According to the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), there are several alternative routes that could lead you to Masaka, Mpigi and Sembabule districts without getting trapped in the city centre and certain parts of Masaka road.

 

The alternative routes are Natete-Kabojja-Kyengera for travellers in the city centre, Kiira-Kasangati-Matuga-Masulita-Nsangi for those in Kiira Municipality, Kayunga and Jinja road.

Travellers from Entebbe have several alternatives. They can connect to Masaka road through Kisubi-Ssisa-Nakawuka-Kisozi-Kitemu and then to Masaka road.

The other route from Entebbe road is Seguku-Budo road.

How the roads connect

While from Entebbe, the Kisubi-Ssisa-Nakawuka is the closest. It connects to a number of districts including Mpigi, Sembabule, Masaka, Kamwenge and FortPortal.

At Nakawuka, there are several options. You can either connect to Masaka road at Kitemu or proceed to Mpigi. 

At Mpigi, one can connect to Kisozi-Ssembabule to either Masaka or proceed to Mbarara or Kamwenge-Fort Portal.
