Kadaga urges Christians to give during the festive season

Kadaga told the congregation that if we are to live as examples of Christ, we need to give to the poor.

Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has encouraged Christians to give to the needy as they prepare to celebrate Christmas.
 
She said as a culture in her constituency, she has already mobilised her office to identify members in the community, who she is going to support during this period. She made the remarks during a sermon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday.
 
Kadaga told the congregation that if we are to live as examples of Christ, we need to give to the poor. The sermon was under the theme, Light the World. 
 
State Minister for Relief and Disaster Preparedness Musa Ecweru appreciated the church for preaching the gospel of tolerance.He applauded its leadership for always helping Ugandans in areas that have been hit by floods and mudslides.
 
The church's president of Kampala North Stake,Fredrick Kyambadde, said everybody should find someone to help during this festive season.
 
He said they have been giving to the communities since December 1.
 
"Each member of the church has also been tasked to give back to the community," Kyambadde said, adding that they will combine efforts with the office of disaster preparedness to give back to the people in Bududa.
 
"We can all follow Jesus' example and make the world a better place by uplifting those around us. Each day leading up to Christmas Day is an opportunity to serve others," he said.
 
The Africa Southeast Area Presidency, Elder Joseph Sitati, said as a church, they want to share the true spirit of the life of Jesus Christ. 
 
"We want to live our lives like Christ lived and what we do at home is what we do in the community," he said.
 
Sitati assured the congregation that they will always do what they can to give back to the community.
