At least 21 people were injured on Monday morning after a bus they were travelling in got involved in an accident.

According to the Police, the bus lost control after the morning drizzle and skidded off the road before overturning.

The Rwenzori West Regional Police Commander, Lukanga Kayondo, told New Vision by telephone that the bus registration number UBB 461B was travelling from Kasese to Kampala when it got an accident at Kaswa trading centre on the Kabarole-Kyenjojo road.

"The victims are admitted to the hospital. Three of them lost a hand each," Kayondo said.

He blamed the accident on reckless driving, adding: "Drivers should be very careful. The roads are smooth but it does not guarantee speeding."

Kayondo said they had installed more checkpoints and whoever will be found breaking the traffic rules will be arraigned in court.
