The Bishop of Central Buganda diocese in the Anglican Church, Right Reverend Michael Lubowa has cautioned priests in the Anglican Church against being defiant to their superiors saying it threatens the existence of the church.

Bishop Lubowa said this at St John's Cathedral while officiating at the function where 14 lay leaders, three deacons and two canons were ordained officially and sent to different churches to start doing God's work in Central Buganda Diocese.

"I caution you against the spirit of defiance to your superiors, you all know that you are under the Bishop and are therefore expected to accord the bishop the necessary respect," Lubowa said.

Bishop Lubowa asked the men of God to avoid actions that put their morals and integrity to question like adultery and promiscuity because they undermine the church.

"I kindly beg you to behave well wherever you will be sent to work from, be humble, relate well with the Christians you will meet there during the course of your service in those churches and by doing well, you will get God's blessings," Lubowa told the clergy.

Lubowa also warned the Priests in the church in his diocese against organizing parallel functions to those of the diocese saying with effect from 2020, no church shall be allowed to hold a function when the diocese has organized a bigger function.

"I am sending this warning message to all church priests in this diocese that they will not be allowed to organize parallel functions when we have organized a function at the diocese, you can also see that most of my priests are not here well knowing that we invited them," Lubowa said.

The priests have been trained in theology, church history and Christian doctrine that will help to guide them while they go about their duties.

Venerable Canon John Jita Kavuma, the archdeacon of Mengo Archdeaconry in Namirembe Diocese, who was the main preacher cautioned the clergy against pride and being disrespectful saying it has greatly affected the church.

Kavuma said becoming a servant in the church is a calling from God and thus those few whom God has called have to leave an exemplary life and inspire other people.

"For those of you whom God has called to become leaders in the church, please be exemplary, desist from pride and always be humble for humbleness is Godly act" Venerable Canon John Jita Kavuma said.

Among those that were ordained as Reverend Grace Kavuma Lubowa, the son of Bishop Michael Lubowa who was ordained as a Deacon in the Anglican Church.
