For the bakers, this year the competition was a little different compared to the past editions. They had to compete in three categories; wedding, creative and cultural cake baking. In the end, there were three winners for each category.

BAKING

KAMPALA - Cake lovers on Sunday turned up in their large numbers for the third edition of the Baileys Kampala Cake Fair hosted at the Uganda Museum and it did not disappoint.

The many bakers exhibiting at the fair co-sponsored by Vision Group's Bride & Groom Magazine impressed. There was plenty of cake in different flavours that included chocolate, lemon, vanilla, carrot cake, you name it, to taste.

The Baileys Kampala Cake Fair turned out to be an exciting family affair as well. Parents turned up with their children in large numbers to give the little ones and themselves a cake treat, just like the many cake enthusiasts.

In the creative category, Infield Cakery took the prize. They also won the popular public vote for the best cake. Infield Cakery came top courtesy of the vote by cake lovers in attendance.

In the cultural category, Carole's Cake and Treats came top while Lush Treats aced the wedding category. Lush Treats were also the overall winners at the Baileys Kampala Cake Fair this year, having had the tastiest cake as voted by the judges.

But that was not all the fun. There was a chicken eating competition, it's the Christmas season after all and chicken does not miss on the menu to bring the Christmas cheer.

There was also a raffle draw that drew a number of winners who took home baking products and shopping vouchers.

This was, in addition, a celebrity bake-off won twice by Faridah Nakazibwe, a news anchor. Hannah Nassola won the Kids Bake-off.

Nassola received a gift hamper, and a free participation kit in the Kampala kids run plus a Christmas cake. Each of the participating bakers also received a gift hamper and certificate of participation.

The setup for the Baileys Kampala Cake Fair was just perfect and set in a serene picnic environment led by Baileys Irish cream that had the biggest and most beautifully set tent at the cake fair.

A Christmas cake was cut for everyone and topped by a fantastic display of fireworks and a Christmas song played to bring in the Christmas cheer to the delighted of the crowd.

Manyi Clan Africa also brought an epic performance to the Baileys Kampala Cake Fair that had a number of artists including Soul artist Kenneth Mugabi and his band entertain and crown yet another successful Kampala Cake Fair, until next year when the fourth edition will be held. The Kampala Cake Fair is the brainchild of Cake Shop Uganda
