Two Ugandan brothers arrested in Mombasa with fake currency

The Police force in Kenya on Tuesday evening announced the arrest of the two at Pundamilia hotel in Bamburi Division in Kisauni Sub-County after being tipped off by the locals.

MOMBASA - Two Ugandan nationals Geoffrey Tindyebwa,44 and Evans Tindyebwa believed to be brothers have been arrested at Mombasa with fake US currency totaling to $94,000 (Ugshs357m).

The Police force in Kenya on Tuesday evening announced the arrest of the two at Pundamilia hotel in Bamburi Division in Kisauni Sub-County after being tipped off by the locals.

"At around 5:30 pm, we received a tip-off from members of the public and we raided the hotel and arrested the two suspects with those large chunks of fake money," Rashid Yakub, the Coast Regional Police Commander announced.

He noted that the suspects would be taken to court on Wednesday and charged with illegal entry and being in possession of fake currency.
