Uganda's conversations today - November 19

Nov 19, 2019

Wondering what's trending on social media right now? Here are the top trending topics in Uganda.

1. International Men's Day

The day might not get that much recognition on these shores but International Men's Day is celebrated in over 80 countries over the world.

International Men's Day is an annual international event celebrated on 19 November. The objectives of celebrating an International Men's Day include focusing on men's and boys' health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, highlighting discrimination against men, and promoting male role models.

So what is it that has gotten Ugandans talking about the day? There are those with a sense of humour of course.

Pastor Martin Ssempa, however, wants so kind of parity.

2. Dirty December

No, this has nothing to do with dirt but rather, Nigerian superstar Wizkid who returns to Uganda for another concert on December 5 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. If his previous shows in the country are anything to go by, Ugandans are in for a treat.

3. Naguru

Many residents of Naguru and surrounding areas woke up to an unusual dose of traffic jam. As it turned out, President Yoweri Museveni was set to address the Police Council and commanders of Kampala Metropolitan Police on the state of security in the country and roads were closed ahead of that.

Many people were left unimpressed by the situation.
