Inter forces games to focus on advancing correction, crime control

Close to 1000 participants are expected to engage in eight games including football, netball handball, volleyball, shooting range, darts, taekwondo and athletics.

The Uganda Prisons Services is this year, hosting the 15th edition of the inter forces games and championships.

The activity, hosted on rotation basis, is aimed at enhancing cooperation and collaboration between the sister forces including; Uganda Prisons Services, Uganda Police Force, Uganda People's Defense Forces and Uganda Wild Life Authority.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre recently , Julius Aloka, the Commissioner of Prisons said this year's theme is, "Advancing Correction: the key to crime control, which is in line with the host agency's mandate.

"We want to encourage the public through these games, to be cautious of what they do and to always ensure that they prevent and control crime," Aloka said, adding that the games are open to the public to watch.

Close to 1000 participants are expected to engage in eight games including football, netball handball, volleyball, shooting range, darts, taekwondo and athletics.

The games, officially opened by the Security Minister Elly Tumwine at the Luzira main grounds this Friday, will also take place at the Mandela National Stadium and the Kigo shooting range grounds.

The events are expected to end on November 21, 2019.

Aloka said winners will be awarded with medals, trophies and some money that he did not disclose.
