KCB-Nkumba 3 Sport-S 2

Fixtures (Tuesday)

Nemostars v UCU (8 pm)

KCCA almost let a 2-0 set lead slip as they saved their own blushes to win game one of the UVF Volleyball League playoffs series 3-2 (25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 15-09).

Coached by Johnson Kawenyera and Nason Bwesigye, KCCA ladies almost shrunk in the rainy conditions until a final set regroup gave them the much-needed series lead.

The balls got wet and from then on Ndejje capitalised to pull back two sets.

"To me, this was a wakeup call because we have beaten KCCA all season so they have been training for us. We have to organise, we started badly but we were able to beat them. If we are able to train well we can easily defeat them," Ndejje coach Ronald Kitosi said.

In the second women's semi-final Tony Lakonys's Nkumba University put a 2-1 set deficit behind them to maim Sport-S as they took a well-earned game one win.

"I anticipated a tough match but I thought we could have done much better. We did not play too well but we pulled through and thankfully we shall be ready for game two," Lakony remarked.

The second women's semi-final will take place on Thursday alongside the men's match between Sport-S and Nkumba Navy.
