KAMPALA - Yesterday, Police stormed Zana zone in Kisenyi- Kampala district and arrested about 6 people who were found in possession of narcotics.

The operation led by Commissioner in-charge of Narcotics Tinka Zerugaba stormed Kisenyi unsuspectedly and arrested the suspects who are now detained at Kabalagala police station.

According to Tinka, the operations on drug users and sellers are still ongoing in suspected places in Kampala and all over the country.

About 10 people were found smocking in a room and as soon as they saw police, they tried to take off but the police were very fast to arrest them.

They are identified as Ben Kato, Derrick Ssendagire, John Konde known as Seka, John Kasumba known as Kamulegeya, Yokoyada Tukundane, and Abdul Jjingo known as Sseka.

The suspects were found with Heroine, blocks of cocaine, syringe which is used as a smoking pipe, and silver paper which they use to sniff both cocaine and heroin.

Kisenyi slum is one of the most notorious areas that have been invaded by marijuana, cocaine and Heroin drug dealers and addicts. It is suspected that agents get them from Kabalagala, Kansanga, Bunga, Buziga among others.

However, one of the sources at police disclosed that files on narcotics do not reach court because of lack of enough evidence.

"We always arrest and detain them but because of lack of enough evidence, they are released and sometimes files are mishandled," said the source.
