MARRIAGE INFORMATION

Following a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) between the Uganda Registration Services Bureau(URSB) and Stanbic bank Uganda limited, the public will no longer struggle to get information from URSB.

Previously clients would have to go to the bank and pay sh20,000 for any search, and later go to URSB offices after 48 hours for the results but with the new arrangement, Stanbic clients will access the information instantly at no cost.

According to Steven Baryevuga, a communications specialist at URSB, the ICT system will enable applicants to easily check potential availability of business names, verification of registered marriages, company details, intellectual property, and corporate rescue without necessarily interfacing with any staff member.

Speaking at the MOU signing, Patrick Mweheire, Stanbic bank CEO said the partnership with URSB will go a long way into improving the accuracy of the information for their customers.
"We thank the leadership of URSB for facilitating, supporting and enabling this unique private-public sector collaboration which should become a model for our market," said Mweheire.

In his speech, Bemanya Twebaze, the Registrar General, said that they are looking at strategic and innovative ways to add value to their services.

"We want to create strong partnerships with valuable stakeholders who will enable us to deliver on our mandate better. The MOU is happening at a time when URSB is exploring and implementing a number of digital solutions that will improve the clients' interaction with our services and is aligned with our ICT mantra of All Digital All Online by 2020," said Bemanya.

In the 2017 World Bank Doing Business report, Uganda was rated among the best top 10 countries that have undertaken to do business reforms positively impacting the private sector expansion and growth.
