Archbishop bids farewell to Mukono diocese

The eighth Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali is today bidding farewell to the diocese of Mukono. Thousands of Christians from the four districts making the diocese including Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga, and Buvuma are gathered at Bishop West Boarding Primary School in Mukono district to attend the archbishop's farewell service. Ntagali is set to retire in March 2020 after the House of Bishops which sat in August elected Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu of Mityana diocese to be the ninth archbishop of Church of Uganda. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The function has been graced by the bishop of Mukono Diocese, James William Ssebaggala who is the host, Rtd. Bp. Jackson Matovu of Central Buganda Diocese, Rtd. Bp. Dunstan Bukenya of Mityana diocese. The Buganda parliamentary caucus chairman, Johnson Muyanja, officials from the central government, and other dignitaries including, MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke of Mukono Municipality, Deputy RDC Mbale district Lilian Nakaweesi, Mukono district chairman, Andrew Ssenyonga, Kyaggwe county head, Ssekiboobo Alex Kigongo among others.

 

 

 

 

The archbishop had arrived in Mukono on Saturday and presided over the closing ceremony of the health week in which Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital was offering free treatment. He also opened the new building which is housing the hospital's private wing.
