Kampala, 14 October 2019: In line with the 2019 theme of the International Day of the Girl Child “GirlForce: Unscripted and Unstoppable”, Unimoni, a renowned global provider of financial solutions and a Finablr company, had organised an awareness programme in KISWA Primary School in Kampala, Uganda.

The main aim of the programme was to sensitise children on their human rights and raise awareness on right to education, the importance of health and hygiene, gender inequality, female genital mutilation, teenage pregnancy and child marriage.

Nazeem Khan, Country Head of Unimoni Uganda, said: “Child marriage, early pregnancy, and gender-based violence continue to be the biggest challenge in this country and have been the dominating factors that have led girls to drop out of school," he said.

"As a corporate citizen, we are committed to creating avenues that will make a positive difference among the communities. Our effort through this programme was to raise awareness on the negative impact of child marriages and empower girls through education so that they can contribute to the sustainable development of the country,” he added.
