The initiative unites the expertise, networks and resources of the partners committed. As a starting point, this multi-sectoral collaboration translates into three main topic areas of Health, Agribusiness as well as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). By joining forces, the partners leverage their impact and reach better results for more people.

TeamUp started in October 2018 in Uganda and a first phase will run until September 2021. It is implemented by three local organizations: Action for Health Uganda (A4HU), Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung Africa (HRNS) and Whave Solutions (WHAVE). Its expected overall outcome is to improve the livelihoods of 50,000 young men and women in Mityana district through improved health, hygiene behavior, increased income and civic engagement.

Ultimately, the targeted youth are supposed to build their confidence and to become drivers of their rural communities.

The youth as a potential and productive demographic Uganda has one of the youngest and fastest growing populations worldwide and as a result, faces significant challenges in meeting the needs of the youth. The Uganda Youth Policy of 2016 recognises that youth development is severely constrained by poverty, inadequate education and skills, and limited work opportunities.

Due to Mityana district's proximity to Kampala city, rural - urban migration is a major problem that leads to missed development opportunities that would directly be beneficial to the youth and the district in general. The youth need to be equipped with the right skills in order to fulfil their potential.
