Medical interns took to the streets

Four medical interns were arrested as they marched to Parliament to petition the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, to intervene in a number of grievances of the student doctors.



Dr. Joseph Otim, Dr. Faith Kyakunizire, Dr. Ronald Kiggundu Dr Joel Mirembe the former president of medical Interns were part of a group of over 60 medical interns who were walking from Mulago medical school to parliament.



The over 1,000 medical interns are slated to start their internship today (Tuesday) in different hospitals countrywide. Pictures by Godiver Asege


 
Among the students' demands are, to be allowed to spend three months in each of the four disciplines including Internal medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology and paediatrics.

Police arrest Nagirinya killer mastermind

The Police have arrested what they described as the mastermind in the double Kidnap and eventual murder of Nagilinya Maria and Ronald Kitayimbwa last month.

The unnamed suspect, according to police, was the chief plotter of the heinous deal together with another suspect Cipriano Kasolo who has already been charged in court.

Kadaga faults the government for failure to mobilise people to plan trees

Rebecca Kadaga, the Speaker of Parliament who was presiding over the official opening of the three-day conference on responses on climate change mitigation faulted the Government on the failure to mobilise the country for massive tree planting. 
 
The conference was organised by the United Nations Framework on Climate Change, the International Labour Organisation and the Government of Uganda in Kampala.
