Taibah international schools Independence sports gala attracts 12 schools

Semweya-Musoke said the reason for starting the games was to ensure that they produce a complete student that is also engaged in sports.

 
Taibah International school under-15 football and basketball teams will be looking to defend their crowns when the second edition of the Taibah International Schools Independence Sports Gala gets underway at the school on Saturday.
 
It will be the same for KisubI High School who won the Volleyball, Netball, and Chess; Bethel College who took the Basketball Open, Light High Academy who triumphed in football and Trinity Senior Academy that won the girls' basketball.
 
Addressing a press conference at the school during the launch of this year's tournament, the principal of the school Oskar Semweya-Musoke said this year's edition will also involve four primary schools; Taibah International Primary School, Taibah Junior, St. Francis Junior School Ntinda and MST Junior Academy.
 
"We are committed to increasing the number of participants and we would like to attract local schools and more international schools to join us and also engage with students that are in an international setting," Semweya-Musoke said.
 
"This year's sports disciplines will be five with games in football, netball, basketball, volleyball and the most notable addition is chess. We've added chess because it increases the thinking capabilities of our students,"
 
A galaxy of sponsors that include; Taibah International School, dfcu bank, SWT, Vipers Sports Club, Aristoc Booklex, Victoria University, Outlet Stores, Alghanna-Spaghetti, Sharz-Borderless, Study Consults, AAR Health Care and Cavendish University have provided sh24m to ensure the success of the two-weekend championship.

"We saw it necessary to engage the students in multiple sports but also we felt it necessary to involve the community and the tournament enables us to reach our immediate community,"
 
The participating schools include; Crane High, Watoto Schools, Greenhill Academy, Taibah International School, Entebbe International, Light High, Bethel College, Jovens High, Elite High School, Exodus College, Kisubi High and Trinity SS.
