Wananchi 2 Kampala 1

From the start, the anticipation was that small details would make the difference in the title chase this year. For Weatherhead, their rare mental fortitude can guide them to yet another title.

They have advertised this attribute in both words and action. Team coach-player Vincent Kasasa does not have to collect his wits when asked about their strength. He says “we shall do whatever it takes. Our target from day one is to win all the major games.”

The major games may necessarily mean all games for second-placed Wananchi don’t harbour any signs of slowing down either.

On Sunday, they were handed a 5-0 walkover result against a rebranded City Lions at the National Hockey Stadium.

In another game, Wananchi held their grit to undermine Kampala with a 2-1 win to keep their title hopes alive. They remain second on 35 points after 13 games played.

Meanwhile, sixth-placed debutants Makerere University registered a memorable 5-1 win over Rockets. It was their fourth win in as many games.
