Yasin optimistic ahead of Fort Portal rally

The Fort Portal Rally is the fifth round of the national rally championship (NRC) and drivers will battle it out in six competitive stages.

The crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba in a Subaru GVB, will not drive under pressure in the Fort Portal Rally this weekend.
 
Yasin who leads the National Rally Championship with 285 points, 40 points more than second-placed Ronald Ssebuguzi will face stiff competition from drivers such as Ambrose Byona, Arthur Blick, Hassan Alwi and Omar Mayanja.

"We know it is going to be a tough event, but we are not putting ourselves on pressure and our target is to finish in the top four positions," Yasin said.
 
The MOIL sponsored crew won the Pearl of Uganda Rally to oust Ssebuguzi from the top of the table standings.
 
The Fort Portal Rally is the fifth round of the national rally championship (NRC) and drivers will battle it out in six competitive stages.
 
Clerk of the course Joshua Mayanja said some stages have been removed because the erosion that made the routes rougher.
 
"Because of safety, we have reduced the ‘Mabere Ga Nyinamwiru' section from 11km from the usual 28kms to avoid the rough parts of the road caused by erosion," Mayanja said.
 
On Sunday, the crews will battle it in three sections Buteebe 11.79kms, Mabere ga Nyinamwiru 11.54kms and Harugongo (27.07kms) of which Harugongo and Mabere ga Nyinamwiru will be repeated.
 
Over thirty drivers including Timothy Gawaya, Dr. Ashraf Ahmed, Yasin Nasser, Arthur Blick Jr, Ponsiano Lwakataka, Kepher Walubi, Christakis Fitidis, and defending champion Ronald Ssebuguzi have confirmed participation.
