CECAFA U-15 Challenge Cup

Uganda 3 Ethiopia 0

Uganda beat Ethiopia 3-0 on Saturday to get their CECAFA U-15 Challenge Cup campaign in the Eritrean capital of Asmara.

Striker Devis Ogwal scored in each half, while Abasi Kyeyune netted in the second half to secure maximum points for Uganda at the Asmara National Stadium.

Ethiopia tried to fight back with some excellent passing in the second but failed to break Uganda's defence.

The organisers of the tournament were forced to change the fixtures after Djibouti failed to turn up for the competition.

Djibouti had been drawn in Group C alongside Tanzania and Sudan, but the changes have now seen Sudan placed in Group A with Burundi, Kenya, Somalia and hosts Eritrea while Tanzania was placed in Group B with Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and South Sudan.

The tournament now has two groups and this means each team will have to play four group matches and the top two sides qualify for the semi-finals slated for August 28, with the final set to be played two days later.

Uganda will be back in action on Monday when they play Tanzania in the two weeklong competition.
