Pool League is back

Aug 17, 2019

There will be matches all around the country as newly promoted teams make debuts in the top flight.

The Pool League returns for the first time since January as players and clubs attempt to bring sanity back into the sport.

There will be matches all around the country as newly promoted teams make debuts in the top flight. Maga will face Mbale and Tororo Tigers will entertain Upper Volta while Ibanda will take on the new look Scrap Buyers.

The Buyers signed up Fahad Ssewankambo Simon Lubulwa and Humphery Nsubuga from Hot Pool and if all goes well they are among favourites for the league. To say the last eight months have been difficult is a fallacy due to the fact that the association is going through financial hardships.

This is why the Gulu Pool Club has not made an entry into the top tier. They cannot afford to raise the resources needed to register players and the team because they wanted to use what they received as prize money to complete the registration.

"They (Gulu) didn't register. They are now focusing on the Gulu regional pool league and then hope to bounce back to the league next year," Pool Association of Uganda Publicity Secretary Peter Kyobe said.

That said other teams cannot wait to get back to business especially defending champions Capital Night who are up against Atagenda on Sunday.
