KAMPALA - With all the new music that is released daily, a section of partygoers still wants a feel of the classic old school jams. At the A Ka Dope event that went down on Friday night, the old school was the identity of the night.
The fans were treated to retro cover songs from American rap and soul music of the 90s. To bring the show home, flashback songs like the Ngoni's Bigula were played by the band.
The space available was not enough for the youthful partiers to dance to the extreme. The band indeed raised the bar high for any performer that was yet to step on stage.
A Ka Dope is known for fronting young talent of all genres.
After a sweaty band performance, the talented novices of the night took the already excited fans into a whole new direction of fun.
Riddim, a reggae artist, stepped on stage first with his own reggae jams fused with some Chronnix. He was blown away when he realized that almost everyone could sing along his music.
Shirley May, a rapper, brought her energy on stage and it was hard to keep up with her pace. After her groundbreaking performance, Lamu, another novice, calmed the storm down with her soulful voice. She performed something about you, which is her biggest claim to fame.
Meanwhile, the legendary rapper, Tom Mayanja alias The Mith, was like a grandfather watching his grandchildren grow. He later stepped on stage to show the young one how it is done. The Mith opened with Amen and later took revelers back in time with some Klear Kut songs.
After his performance, fans turned all the attention to Uganda Waragi cocktails to end the night in style.
