There's unlimited space for girls to play football

Speaking to the press ahead of the Airtel Rising Stars U-17 football tournament regional qualifiers, Kisakye said parents should focus on producing a holistic child.

Remmie Kisakye, the Airtel Head Brand and Communication has advised parents to encourage their girls to participate in sport and especially women football.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Airtel Rising Stars U-17 football tournament regional qualifiers, Kisakye said parents should focus on producing a holistic child.

"We have seen the benefits of having an all-round child, so while education is key and fundamental in the lives of children and adults in general, I believe sport is also very
important because it enhances the health of an individual; and so it is important that people exercise, take lots of water and keep fit," Kisakye reasoned.

"We have also seen this being stressed in international football academies. Before, your talent alone would take you there but now education is emphasized and vice versa
so it is also important for parents to look at both sides of the coin.

"So I urge parents to come out and nurture an all-round child, not specifically in football alone but in all sports. They should also encourage the girl child to engage in the
Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) so that we can see more football talent emerge and reach national and international level," Kisakye stated.

She was happy to note that football is growing at a terrific speed and that many girls like Fazila Ikwaput, Hasifa Nassuna and Fauziya Najjemba had come through the ARS and went to leave a mark nationally and internationally.

"As a brand we pride in making sure women talents are given a platform to showcase their talents and we need a lot of collaboration from all stakeholders to continue
growing this talent," Kisakye said.

She said between 2017 and 2018 over 1000 girls had engaged in football and that they were looking for more participation in the coming seasons.
