KAMPALA- Makerere Kavule a suburb of Kampala was formerly known as a hiding place of thieves, murderers, and rapists, and now it's referred to as a place of worship.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Steven Senfuma the lead pastor for United Christian Center (UCC) found in Kasubi, said in 1993 before the church was constructed there; people would associate the place with thieves and rapists.

He adds the church has transformed the place as many developments have come into place.

"It's until we put here the church that the hostels around and restaurants came into place," Senfuma said.

Senfuma said  before the church was constructed, people would fear to pass in that place at night because they either feared to be robbed, murdered, or raped, but now people come to church even at night for prayers.

He said it's not all well because they have a challenge of a trench next to the church that smells during church service, he appeals to government to help and clean it for the church and the residents around.

Conard Sande the church administrator said he does not regret having joined the church because it has transformed him into a better person, and can now he can read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

"Before I joined the church I could not read the Bible from the beginning to the end, but now I can," Sande testified.

The church marked 25 years of existence and at the same event, Senfuma had his graduation ceremony, as he was honoured with a doctorate.

The Bible University called Lead Impact found in the United States of America, awarded a doctorate to Senfuma along with other Ugandan pastors who included Sarah and John Bunjo.

Though the Bible University honored Senfuma, last year, the official graduation ceremony was held on Friday, July 26th, 2019 at his church found in Kasubi.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Isaac Kituuka who represented the University chancellor, said Senfuma has stood firmly on the Bible truth and has not compromised the word, and that those are some of the things the university looks out for before awarding someone.

Kituuka said Senfuma is very humble and that his salvation life has changed very many people, and has inspired many to change from their evil ways to Christ Jesus.

"Senfuma has not compromised the truth for money, and his teaching is uncompetitive. Last year alone Senfuma ministered to 270 churches," said Kituuka.

Senfuma's wife Favour Senfuma applauded her husband for not compromising the word of God and for mentoring her into what she is.
