Germany donates sports gear to Teryet

In keeping with the spirit of Uganda-Germany Cooperation in Sports Development, the Ministry of Education and Sports has requested for the re-secondment of Gunter Lange, a German Sports Development Expert to Uganda to support the country in the further development of Physical Education and Sports Development.
 
According to a statement from the German Embassy, Lange will contribute to the attainment of the Ministry of Education and Sports strategic plan (2017/2020).
 
In the context of this actual short term secondment, the German Embassy in Kampala donated a set of sports equipment for football, volleyball, handball, netball, track and field, and gymnastics to the headteacher of the Teryet Primary School, Geoffrey Chepkwurui.
 
The approximate value of the donated sports equipment is €2,300 (about sh9.5m). Grace Abalo, the Senior Education Officer in the Department of Physical Education and Sports, welcomed these sports materials.
 
"The sports materials which are provided to continue to motivate school children and young students in the area of the National High Altitude Training Center (2555m) at Teryet in Kapchorwa District, to participate in education / physical activity as a base for a dual career in life and sports," the embassy said in a statement.
