CHAN 2020 Qualifiers: Somalia v Uganda (6 pm)

Uganda Cranes should need to polish their striking boots as they take on Somalia in their opening match of the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in Djibouti today.

Abdullah Mubiru's side that has scored one goal out of the three build-up matches in preparation for the encounter, will need to find their scoring boots in Djibouti today.

"We are on the right path since we manage the ball well and create chances. The only challenge we had was that at times we couldn't take away the chances, but this is the area of concern we have polished. We have also improved on our creativity which I believe will give us an upper hand over our opponents," stated Mubiru before departure on Thursday.

Due to the insecurity in Mogadishu, the match will be played at the Al Haji Hussein Guled Stadium in neighbouring Djibouti.

Uganda was upset by Somalia 1-0 in the two nations' last meeting in April last year during the CECAFA U-17 tournament in Burundi.

The winner between Uganda and Somalia will face either Burundi or South Sudan in the second round of the competition that exclusively features players in the domestic league.

A total of 47 countries are involved in the battle for 15 places to join hosts Cameroon for the final due next year in Casablanca Morocco.
