Kisoro district has registered four murder cases since Saturday last week, Police has revealed. The cases range from murder by stabbing, mob violence and shooting among others, New Vision has learnt.

The murders according to Police have been committed in different areas such as Rubuguri town council, Nyakabande, Kisoro municipality, and Chahi sub-county.  Elly Maate the Police says some of the murders are purely domestic and most of the suspects have been apprehended.

"Other murders by shooting are at times across  DRC where rebel groups and guns were uncontrollably held, other murders are totally criminal and investigations at times lead us to those behind them and culprits are arrested or fail to breakthrough," he states.

Information obtained from Police indicates that some of the victims of the murders include Richard Kalule(aged 30), Naome Cyimpaye (39), renowned lawyer Isaac Sendegeya (aged 39) who was shot on Sunday.

According to Maate, Police has upped community sensitization and neighborhood watch as well as intensified operations to reduce such levels of criminality.

"We stepped up community policing to make our people easily work with police and volunteer any information about crime and those behind it, but also intensified the operations against crime,"

Meanwhile, New Vision has that Sendegeya was buried on Tuesday at his home village in Mukingo, Kisoro Municipality.  Since Sendegeya's passing, there have been mixed reactions from Kisoro's businessmen and politicians on what should be done to end such murders.

Eddie Kwizera, former Bufumbira East MP, said: "Oh my God!!  the level of criminality has gone beyond. As a community, we demand enhanced seriousness and actions with results about these undeterred murders."

Renowned businessman and philanthropist Augustus Mulenga hailed the deceased lawyer for his distinguished services to Kisoro people.

"Isaac put everything aside to serve his motherland, the district of Kisoro. Let's remember him for his friendship and commitment to providing legal advice and services to many. My heart goes out to his entire clan, family, relatives, and friends," read a statement shared on one of social media platforms for Kisoro people.
