Uganda needs two wins at the second preliminary stage of the Netball World Cup in Liverpool, England, to book a slot in the semifinals.

The She Cranes finished in second place on the table in Group D with two points, behind leaders England (6 points) at the weekend to advance to Group G and stay in the title race.

Pool G includes Uganda, Trinidad & Tobago, South Africa, Jamaica, England and Scotland. Uganda was playing Trinidad & Tobago late last evening.

Thereafter the She Cranes will face Jamaica and South Africa on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

The top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-final stage while the bottom teams will head to the classification matches.

"All teams at this stage are good but we are determined to win at least two of our three matches so as to advance to the next level,'' said coach Vincent Kiwanuka.

Uganda finished in eighth place at the last World Cup 2015 in Australia. However, Kiwanuka believes they can do better this time.

"We would like to finish in a more decent position this time and the players are also determined and ready to put in their best. We need to win at least two games at this stage so as to advance to the semis,'' Kiwanuka noted.

After the initial preliminary matches the top three in each pool, form Groups F and G in the second phase, while the losers make up Group E. The top two in F and G go into the semifinals.

In Group F, defending champions Australia will be battling Barbados, Zimbabwe and New Zealand.
