"This marks one of the events ahead of the coronation. The kingdom is venturing into sports areas where it has not been active," said Buganda's Prince David Wasajja during the launch.

Consensus is that a tournament as big as the coronation cup offers a perfect opportunity for the public to join in the activities and promote the sport of rugby in Buganda according to Wasajja.

"Buganda kingdom emphasizes healthy living and rugby is a sport of healthy bodies and minds. Rugby is a sport that teaches values of integrity, solidarity discipline and respect therefore we need to embrace it and support it," the prince added.

This also would serve as a brilliant opportunity to spread the sport to people of all classes that is why in the school's coronation sevens tournament that concluded on Sunday at St Marys College Kisubi it is important to note a school from Masaka was invited, he said.

The kingdom would like to tap into all their classes and open the sport to everyone as opposed to keeping it among corporates.
