Action in the National Volleyball League resumed over the weekend with Nkumba men registering their first loss away to Sport-S in Nsambya.

The 3-1 defeat against the Entebbe-based side was Nkumba's sixth loss against Sport-S which pushed the Nsambya lads' record to seven leagues games unbeaten.

Sport-S captain Dickens Otim has always been the main man in both attack and defence.

Nkumba's reception was faulty and that costed the team but the coach, Moses Opio, has urged his players to train harder.

"A game lost means a lot and my boys have failed to realise that there is no sweetness where hard work is absent. We need to train hard and die a little in each game we play," said Opio.

Meanwhile, in the women's division, Nkumba University Volleyball Club (NUVC-A) continued their fine form following their triumph in the Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament last month with a win over Cobap.

Sport-S women with the help of their main attacker Diana Asiimwe were also able to register two wins over the weekend.

The league returns on Thursday with a university derby where the Nkumba teams will travel to Mukono to face Uganda Christian University.
