KAMPALA - If there are things that will get Ugandans excited, meat is definitely one of them. This, therefore, saw hundreds of meat lovers throng Gardens lounge in Najera, Wakiso district to enjoy the second ever East African Meat carnival on Saturday.

Ready with their sharp canines, revelers at the carnival organised by Tusker Lite had already filled up the small venue by 5:00 pm. The lead chef and host of the carnival, Mark Kaheru, was already lost in smoke by the time revelers started flocking in.

With grilled meat, one has to show the highest level of patience because it takes some time to have it ready. In the meantime, therefore, the hungry foodies decided to kill some time with Matatu games.

Judging from the energy and attention everyone was giving the meat, it was clear that they had all foregone lunch just to create space for the meat. Anyone who came for the carnival after 8:00 pm would be lucky to find a single goat rib left.

Somehow, music will always act as a lubricant for the smooth flowing of food and meat for that matter. To complement the mood, therefore, DJ Cisse took revelers back in time to some of the old jams that were once hits and since it was all about East Africa, all the countries were represented in the music.

The wider the smoke spread into the air, the more people kept on pouring into the venue. The event went on until late in the night and the bones that were collected really showed how the man did justice to the meat.
