Focus on developmental projects, Muslim youths advised

Mufti Menk will preside over the celebration to mark 175 years of Islam in Uganda at Namboole Stadium on Sunday.

KAMPALA - The Mufti of Zimbabwe, Sheikh Ismail Menk has called upon youths to focus on development programmes instead of wasting their energies on issues that destroy their lives.

"Why do you allow to be used by other people to achieve their goals instead of using your time and energies to focus on developmental issues that benefit you and the family?" Menk asked.

He said this while delivering Juma message to thousands of Muslim believers on Friday at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Gaddafi Mosque Old Kampala.

Sheikh Menk said that the tendency of specific individuals using Islam to forester their interests should not be attributed to Islam.

The Mufti who is on a three-day visit to Uganda urged Muslims to strengthen their faith in Islam and do away with anything that is contrary to Islamic teaching including hatred, extremism and involving themselves in conflicts that damages the image of Islam.

He called for unity among Muslims and other faiths, saying working together with people is the only way the country can leave in harmony.  Menk also encouraged Muslims to do charity work in order to get more blessing from Allah,

Mufti Menk will preside over the celebration to mark 175 years of Islam in Uganda at Namboole Stadium on Sunday and will be under the theme "Building bridges".

 
Who Mufti Menk?

Ismail ibn Musa Menk or Mufti Menk was born on June 27, 1975; He is Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe, a prominent Muslim cleric. He is the head of the fatwa department of The Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe.
