The Church that has taken 90 years to build

The parish priest Fr. James Achara, said the church was partially completed through financial assistance from Johann Goeschi, a Germany friend, who donated sh18m for roofing.

Christians of St Jude Catholic Church Tuba in Molo sub-county have finally been able to pray from their church, an opportunity they have been waiting for in the last 90 years.

The church, which sits on 16 acres of land, was established in 1929.

The parish priest Fr. James Achara, said the church was partially completed through financial assistance from Johann Goeschi, a Germany friend, who donated sh18m for roofing.

This is after the Christians who had raised the wall to the ring beam, failed to collect money for roofing. This forced a number of Christians to go to other churches and denominations because they could not stand praying in the open.

Achara said Tuba is the second church after Kinyeli Catholic Church in Mella sub-county that he has built through the same donor, adding that he is poised at building a similar church in Lwanjusi after the same donor has pledged to offer more support.

The opening ceremony was presided over by state minister for health Sarah Opendi and attended by former Tororo County MP Geoffrey Ekanya.

Achieng on her part challenged the Christians to always stick to there faith and avoid roaming from one church to the other in name of looking for riches.

She contributed sh2m towards the completion of the church and promised to buy some seats and uniform for the choir, while Ekanya pledged sh1m.
