In the past, the Rwenzururu subjects would throng the airfield and along the road from the airfield to the town centre.

The mood remained hushed in Kasese despite the awaited travel of the Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere.

Mumbere is expected to fly into the district to perform cultural rituals for his mother and the Rwenzururu Nyamukama (Queen Mother), Christine Biira Mukirania, who was buried in Bundibugyo on Sunday.

According to the Rwenzururu spokesperson, Yona Tumusiime, Mumbere is set to fly in shortly after 2:00pm landing at the Kasese aerodrome, where top Rwenzururu leaders are supposed to receive him.

In a brief interview with New Vision, some residents said they were uncertain of what might happen to them if they got excited.

"With all the police track patrolling Kasese town, we cannot be sure of our security," several residents said.

Most preferred to remain at their businesses and homes.
