New look national women's rugby team

It’s been quite a few years since the women’s 15’s team had an outing.

The Lady Rugby Cranes are gearing up for the return of the Elgon Cup but with more emphasis put on the World Cup Qualifiers that will take place in South Africa.

It's been quite a few years since the women's 15's team had an outing so the tournament comes at the right time for tactician Edgar Lemerigar.

"True we are out in the wild in terms of 15s rugby, starting from basics, the series will be a great test for us and will definitely reveal some great moments in terms of skills, combinations, and new players," Lemerigar said.

Although some senior players have been sighted in training, it is an exciting time for coach Lemerigar who believes the new additions have a lot to show the Ugandan public since they will play on the same day as their male counterparts.

He added, "We are slowly getting our groove in terms of team makeup and combinations and the Elgon Cup is a great way to test ourselves."
