PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REPORTFOR THE PROPOSED KINGFISHER DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

THE PUBLIC IS HEREBY NOTIFIED that the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) will hold a Public Hearing for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report for the proposed Kingfisher Development Project. The Public Hearing will be held in accordance with regulation 22 of the National Environment (Environment Impact Assessment) Regulations, 1998. A Public Hearing is a forum in which all relevant stakeholders and developers are brought together to express opinions and offer suggestions on a proposed Project to influence the decision-making process during review of the ESIA. A Production License to develop and operate petroleum facilities for the Kingfisher Development Project was awarded to CNOOC Uganda Limited (CUL), an international oil company in 2012. The Kingfisher Development Project refers to the oil production infrastructure to be established within Buhuka parish along the South-Eastern side of Lake Albert in Kikuube District, and a feeder pipeline transporting crude oil from Buhuka to a delivery point at the proposed Kabaale Industrial Park, in Hoima District.
