Express FC executive met with the team’s shareholders last month to present their report for the 2018-2019 season

Express FC will next season play some games at their own home in Kasanje Sub County, Wakiso District, going by some of their plans for the 2019-2020 season.

According to the club chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka, one of their major tasks next season is to acquire a home ground for the club.

"We have contracted Tropical Sports Company to develop a stadium for Express in Kasanje town, which is a 20-minute drive from Wankulukulu and a ten-minute drive from Nateete town. We expect phase one of the project to be completed by mid-season; so we anticipate having our second round matches there," Kiryowa said.

On completion of the 20,000-seater stadium, according to the artistic impression, will have a swimming pool, restaurant, hostel and an indoor stadium for indoor games such as basketball, badminton, table tennis among others.

But, the first phase will only have the training pitch, main ground and one stand ready for use as Express look for partners to complete the project according to Kiwanuka.

Express FC executive met with the team's shareholders last month to present their report for the 2018-2019 season. The meeting was attended by among others; the club patron Prince Kassim Nakibinge, club president Bbale Mugera board members and the Club CEO Hamzah Jjunju.

"The shareholders were pleased with what we have achieved this season after we briefed them on what had happened this season. We highlighted our strength and weaknesses and we all agreed that the team has stabilized and the administration is sound. We expect to do even better next year," Kiryowa stated.

"It pleases me to report that so far our efforts have paid off and show great promise for the future. We still have a challenge with resources but we look forward to a more competitive team for next season and should gradually move towards title contention," Kiwanuka stated.

Club CEO Hamzah Jjunju says they plan to strengthen vital positions in the team in line with the report from the technical team because: "we must keep moving up the table and get where we belong".

In their report, the executive noted that they were tasked to re-organise the club governance and administrative structures, the club does not get back into relegation positions, the financial condition is improved and revive Express FC growth in the period prior to the Uganda Premier League 2018/19, and throughout the season.

Kiryowa avers that they achieved all that by emphasizing the need for discipline among the playing and technical team and creation of an Advisory Council (AC).

They also engaged and brought sponsors on board and currently; Betway, Equity Bank, Buganda Land Board and Uganda Breweries Limited, sponsor the team.
