With over 15 years as Prisons team manager and coach, it is hard to document all her achievements in local netball

Age could take away the energy to carry out certain duties but not the wisdom, and veteran coach Imelda Nyongesa from Uganda Prisons netball team is a living testimony
to that.

With over 15 years as Prisons team manager and coach, it is hard to document all her achievements in local netball.

If you find Nyongesa conducting training sessions, the level of fitness, energy and commanding language, anyone could imagine she is in her late 30s, yet she is on the journey to retirement anytime soon. Nyongesa has been a constant presence on the coaches' bench of the national team on a number of occasions.

She is dedicated to her athletes and has an amazing attentiveness to every detail during training and competitions. She is always pushing for results.

Nyongesa also referred to as ‘Madam' has always shown a caring attitude even when pushing the Prisons netballers to reach their goals.

She puts a lot of emphasis on skills development and endurance among the players.

She has been described as an excellent mentor, role model, and mother.

The veteran coach has stood the test of time and last year she led Uganda Prisons to their fourth National Netball League title.

Nyongesa, who started as a player on the Maroons netball team, has managed the Prisons team since the early 2000s and has also led the wardresses to three back-to-back
East Africa Club Championship titles since 2015.
