For the national team selectors, the goal is to have a tried and tested crop for the U19 Girls National team.

The quite lengthy process is designed in such a way to have close monitoring and evaluation of players before the final list is drawn.

Keeping in mind the magnitude of the World Championship August in Canada, Uganda is not leaving anything to chance.

"We settled for an open tryout where all Ugandans in and out of the country can come and take part of the team selection at no charge," said Liberty Twesiime, National coordinator.

The rather vigorous exercise which will be done in phases starts Saturday at Lugazi Mehta grounds

By the end of June, the exercise is expected to have achieved the ultimate objective.

Conversely, Uganda continues to gather positive energy especially following the appointment of American female coach Chrissy Schreiber in their ranks.

The lady of tactics is expected to join the team in Uganda in the build-up process to the global showpiece where Uganda are strangers of sorts.

Meanwhile, youngsters Gaylene Gaswaga, Flavia Nalwadda, and  Ruth Tushemeirwe from Nabisunsa Girls and Canaan High School respectively harbor positive thoughts on Uganda's journey so far.

"We are moving in the right direction, it has been a long time coming and I'm personally excited about the whole project. Nonetheless, we need Ugandans to rally behind us as the team seeks to make history" Gaswaga said.

On the roster, Uganda will camp in the United States for a week to fine tune before the main games with Australia Belgium Canada China Czech Republic England Germany Hong Kong Ireland Israel Jamaica Kenya Republic OF Korea Mexico New Zealand Puerto Rico Scotland Chinese Taipei Uganda United States OF America Wales all vying for honors.

Uganda and Kenya carry the weight of the world on their shoulders as the only teams representing Africa.
