Manchester United coaches to tutor Excel Soccer Academy kids

South African Manchester United legend and ambassador Quinton Fortune has laid the ground for that to happen following his visit to Kampala.

What does it feel like to be a Manchester United player?

Well, for two days, May 20-12; players from the Excel Soccer Academy will get that feeling when they are tutored for two days by Manchester United coaches in Kampala.

South African Manchester United legend and ambassador Quinton Fortune has laid the ground for that to happen following his visit to Kampala over the weekend, courtesy of Kansai Plascon.

In an exclusive interview with selected media at Protea Hotel on Sunday, Fortune hinted on returning to the country and wished he could be among the coaches to train the kids later this month.

"We came to do an event with Plascon and it was a nice event at Sheraton on Saturday but there is going to be a soccer clinic later this month where Ugandan kids will be fortunate to be coached in the Man United way," Fortune, who is currently doing his coaching badges in the UK said.

The Manchester United partnership will include a visit by Manchester United coaches later in the month for a two-day tutorship program.

On Saturday, Fortune had a luncheon with winners from an online and radio Plascon activation and rewarded them with autographed Man U jerseys before he emphasized the importance of corporate sponsorship in sports development.

"It brings me joy whenever I see corporate companies investing in sports. A while back, it was only beverages, banks and sports brands that made investments in sports, but today Kansai Plascon is investing in sports. Everyone is appreciating the benefits of sports investment, and that is great for aspiring sportsmen," Fortune noted.

"We are going to work with the Excel Academy and we want to link it to a CSR activity whereby we are trying to empowering other children to give back to other children. So the first round will be about improving their skills and later CSR where they will buy tickets at sh10,000  in order to win Man U jerseys," Tyron Immelmann marketing manager Plascon East Africa, stated.

"Sports, among other things instil values of teamwork, respect, and ambition in those who partake in it. Our hope is to see an improvement in the sporting performance of Uganda,"

Plascon sponsors the Plascom Mongers in the Ugandan Rugby League and Plascon FC in the FUFA Big League.
