UCU Doves will be out to avenge last year's pain when they lost to Nemostars in the final of the National basketball League.

The two sides, face-off in the opening fixture of the national volleyball league Friday at Lugogo in agame that promises to be too competitive.

UCU tactician Nason Bwesigye is not taking any thing for granted and may be forced to play his matchmaker Elias Isiagi as a libero.

Isiagi an attacker sustained a knee injury during the continental championship last month and left a dent in the team, a thing coach Bwesigye will have to find a way around.

The game between the two sides has always kept the fans on tension and is always unpredictable and that is what it promises to be on Friday.

The tactician will also have to decide between Johnson Rukundo and Deogratius Anguria who replaces Isiagi in the attack.

"We have prepared and we are ready for them. We learned a lot in Egypt and it is time to prove what we learned," UCU skipper Moses Odeke said.

Both teams fresh from the Africa club championship in Cairo bring the continental experience back home to the fans and that is what makes the encounter a must watch.

However, Nemostars coach Andrew Okapis who boosted his team with four new signings including a libero Emma Elanyu from KAVC is up for a win.

Teaming up with attacker George Aporu, Bernard Malinga, and the 2018 Nile Special-USPA volleyball player of the year Smith Okumu, Okapis is hoping for nothing less than a victory.

"It is unpredictable, we respect them but with the physic the boys have, am convinced we shall win this game," Okapis said.

Meanwhile, before the men's game, fans will first witness the women showdown in which KCCA will be out to challenge defending champions Nkumba University.

KCCA are boosted by their new signing, former Sport-S attacker Eunice Amuron.
