"We are committed to fighting counterfeits, but we can only achieve that with the support of the consumers and innovators of these brands," Kainobwisho stated.

"If you have registered and own your logo, brand, Trademark, whoever wants to use it will have to pay you and you will get money."

NCS Legal Manager Shadiya Nakamanya echoed the same urging sports federations to register their logos and brands with URBS because one day they will wake up when someone else has registered them.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Sorowen assured the participants of the workshop that the Police is committed to protecting their IP.

"We have created an independent department in the Police dedicated to such crimes of counterfeits but it can help you when you have proof of ownership by law," the AIGP added.

FUFA's head of Legal and Compliance Denis Lukambi urged government to formulate laws that protect sports events.
