Koboko residents eulogize fallen RDC Kawooya

Many residents in Koboko knew the deceased RDC as a champion against corruption, and environmental mismanagement.

KOBOKO - A somber mood hangover Koboko District on Friday as locals mourned the death of Hajji Isaac Kawooya who perished in an accident along the Kampala-Masaka highway on Friday morning.

Many residents in Koboko knew the deceased RDC as a champion against corruption, and environmental mismanagement. Kawooya was also popular for building international relationships with the neighbouring countries of South Sudan and DR Congo.

Koboko district LC5 Chairman Hassan Nginya Saidi described the unprecedented demise of Hajji Kawooya as shocking. "Even in the morning, I had a conversation with him."

Saidi remembers the RDC for introducing a new approach of building a good team and bringing to an end the conflicts that were at the peak among the Muslims in the district.

George Ambe, the district Speaker said the late Hajji Kawooya has been cooperative and had caused tremendous changes in service delivery within the short term of office.

Ocar Rasul, the LC3 Chairman for Ludara said Koboko and Uganda have lost a resourceful, transformative, patriotic and honest nationalist. "All I know about him is, he is a transformational leader, a person who loves change."

Ashraf Mambo the male youth councilor and leader of Opposition for Koboko district described the deceased as non-discriminative, developmental and a mentoring father.

He died at the time His Excellency the President is expected in Koboko to commission the multi-water billion project and an ICT center at St. Charles Lwanga College and was to be the chairperson organising committee for visit.
