Msgr. Kalumba calls for spiritual renewal

Apr 19, 2019

"...As we commemorate his resurrection, let us abandon our evil ways and strengthen our devotion to him. Let us not continue to do things that hurt our brethren. Let us act in accordance with the ways of God.”

KAMPALA - As Christians commemorate the passion, death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus, which brought salvation to mankind, Msgr. Gerald Kalumba, the Prelate of Christ the King Church, Kampala, has called on all believers to renew their commitment to God and their fellow human beings.

"Today we see many incredible things which don't reflect our sense of humanity. People are being killed on a daily basis. Children are being sacrificed and defiled. Corruption is endemic. Violence is also rampant. Jesus died so that we can be saved. As we commemorate his resurrection, let us abandon our evil ways and strengthen our devotion to him. Let us not continue to do things that hurt our brethren. Let us act in accordance with the ways of God."

The celebrations of the ecumenical public way of the cross had several interesting scenes. But what most captured the attention of the congregation was the Boys and Girls Brigade, a Christian brass ensemble from St Paul's Cathedral, Namirembe.

Further to leading the procession of Christians from the Cathedral, the ensemble also led the congregation in the singing of the anthems. It also played some interesting marching music.

The joint-choir comprising choristers from All Saints Cathedral, Kampala and Mulago Catholic Church, which led the singing during the ecumenical prayers, also captivated the celebrations.
