WAKISO- The lay leader of St Mark’s Church of Uganda, Sekiwunga (Akright City, Entebbe Road), Simon Lule, has praised the church’s affiliate choristers for their deep devotion to the musical ministry of the Church.

He said the choristers sacrificed a lot of their precious time, and sometimes even money, to rehearse the songs that they sing in Church, which was a mark of their deep religious devotion.

He encouraged the Christians to give the choristers the necessary support, to enable them to enhance their vocation.

Lule made the appreciation remarks during a service of Easter carols at the church on Sunday.

During the service, St Mark’s Church choir performed popular carols, which included Abange Muwulirize Ekigambo Kya Yesu (brethren listen to the word of God), Ow’ekitiibwa ggwe eyatununula and Akwana emikwano akira ayomba (the one who makes friends is better than the one who creates enemies).

The concert was also boosted by the students’ choir from Elite High School, Entebbe, which sang praise and worship songs.

Further to ushering the Christians into the festive season of Easter, the concert was also an activity to raise awareness about the activities that the Christians of St Mark’s Church have organised to raise money for their new church that is currently under construction.

The activities include a fundraising dinner on May 14, the celebration of Saint Mark’s Day on May 15 and, a mega-fundraising function in July, which is expected to be presided over by President Yoweri Museveni.
