Adventist Church hails Prince Ogi Mutebi

The retired Adventist Archbishop, Dr John Kakembo, who presided over the service, praised Prince Mutebi, referring to him as a selfless and dedicated member of the Church, who also contributed enormously to its evangelistic projects.
Tributes have been paid to Prince Labusaakae Ogi Musoke, a veteran evangelist, musician and elder of the Adventist Church, who died on March 28, aged 88. The eulogies were conveyed during the funeral service at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Najjanankumbi on Tuesday, April 9.
The retired Adventist Archbishop, Dr. John Kakembo, who presided over the service, praised Prince Mutebi, referring to him as a selfless and dedicated member of the Church, who also contributed enormously to its evangelistic projects.
"He was a pillar-member of Najjanankumbi Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was also the church's pioneer organist and conductor. He was among the church's youthful musical evangelist who traversed Uganda and East Africa, preaching the gospel of Jesus.
"Through his musical evangelistic ministry, he helped many people to know Jesus. He also planted churches like Kabayima, Katera, Nakwaya, and Lwamata, among others. He has fought a good fight. We are grateful to God for his fruitful life."
Steven Kasaato Bukenya, an elder also praised Mutebi's attitude towards work and business acumen. "He was a successful trader. He was among the pioneer traders at Shauriyako Market. He also sold textbooks. It is through trade that he got into contact with the late Dr. Samson Kisekka and his wife. He later convinced them to attend an Adventist crusade at Kibuye, where they appreciated the Adventist doctrine and subsequently opted to become members of the Church.
Pastor Prince Blasious Mutebi Kalemeera (from North-London Luganda SDA Church) thanked the leadership of the Adventist Church for appreciating the work of his father and for according him a dignified funeral service.
The service was graced by several Adventist pastors and elders who included Pastor Joseph Ssembuusi, Bishop James Kajja (retired), Pastor Joseph Ssebuufu, Pastor Joel Musaasizi, and elders: Stephen Kabuye, Yusufu Bukenya Lunninze, and Dr. Golola Mosese, among others. Also in attendance was a delegation of Anglican priests from Kampala diocese, which included Canon Rebecca Nyegenye and Canon Fred Komunda.
Late Prince Labusaake Mutebi was also honoured in a special way by Adventist choral groups like the Ravens choir (from Entebbe), the Golden Gate Choir and the Remnant Crew, which ministered beautifully during the service.
Prince Ogi Mutebi was laid to rest at his home in Lwamata, Kiboga district on Wednesday, April 10.
