The Ntungamo deputy resident district commissioner has urged the residents to embrace the Kyankwanzi resolutions that were passed by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party MPs endorsing President Yoweri Museveni as the sole candidate ahead of the 2012 presidential elections, because he is still energetic.

Isaiah Byarugaba Kanyamahane was speaking during the Nyakyera Farmers' SACCO's 17th annual general meeting where he was the guest of honour.

The meeting was held at Nyakyera trading centre in Ruhaama, Ntungamo district on Saturday.

He noted that the NRM government under President Museveni introduced village banks to help peasants get out of poverty, in this, he advised people to join such SACCOs whereby they can acquire loans to help them in educating their children and as well as helping them in their livelihoods.

Kanyamahane added that Museveni deserves another term in office for the good things he has done for Ugandans more especially bringing peace and prosperity for all plus other good government programmes, and asked them to shun the opposition because they are not focused.

He advised the people of Nyakyera to have a saving culture with the little money they earn by depositing it in SACCOs and also join other registered groups if they are to develop themselves and benefit from government programmes.

The SACCO's board chairman, Ndibarema wa Bitwaabo said the SACCO is doing well although they are facing some challenges with a high default rate of some members.

The delegates passed a budget of sh633,096,962 for the financial year 2019/20.

Ndibarema said the SACCO has a total of 5,484 members from all its three branches.
