KAMPALA - Police's effort to meet Ssebulime's family hit a snag when the latter refused to turn up.

Police team led by the political commissar spent the entire day, Friday, waiting for Ssebulime's family members at the Bulaga LC1 chairman's home, to come to an understanding of how police can help the deceased's family, but all was in vain.

"We waited for the family until 7:00pm without seeing anyone and we had to leave." Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said.

Enanga also stated that the matter is highly publicized and politicized.

‘'I think the family is finding itself in a dilemma to work with police or probably go with what the politicians are saying."

He however revealed that as the police they are affected and asked the family to put politics aside, work together and come to an understanding of how the police can help Ssebulime's family.

The late Ronald Ssebulime, 42, was gunned down on March 24, after arrest by police on suspicions of trailing and posing a threat to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) State Minister, Idah Nantaba.

The family which claims that the late was going to visit his daughters at school in Kabimbiri, issued an intention to sue the Uganda Police Force.

"Our directorate of legal has acknowledged receipt of an intention-to-sue notice from Muwada and Company Associates who are representing the family. We are going to study the content and make our response." Enanga said.

So far three police officers; Cpl. David Ssali, who was commanding the 999 patrol and allegedly did the shooting, Ronald Opira and Geofrey Bagonza are under detention.  One policeman, Robert Cherotich is still on the run.
