The minister of state for Luwero Triangle, Ssozi Galabuzi, has appealed to Wakiso District Resident Commissioner, Rose Kirabira, to closely monitor the civil servants in the district whom he accused of being corrupt.

The minister pointed out that government money which is sent to the people through the district is allegedly stolen and he threatened to have some district officials arrested.

Galabuzi who was the chief guest made the remarks during the women's day celebrations recently at Kakiri Sub County in Wakiso district.

"Stealing money which is meant for development frustrates development and according to the minister this cannot be tolerated," he said.

"If I have given out money to the people through the district, I want that money to reach them fast enough so that they use it for development," said Galabuzi.

The minister later gave sh50m to the women from greater Kakiri which he said would a revolving fund.

The minister of state for Primary Education, Rosemary Seninde, also attended the function and appealed to the women to embrace government programs and work hard to fight poverty.

"Women need to be very hardworking because some men have abandoned their responsibilities, forcing women to step in, and close that gap by working hard," said Seninde.

The minister emphasized the importance of educating children, saying that investing in education is investing in the future.

Seninde encouraged women to use the government loan scheme for their children to attain education and payback to the government after completing education.

Wakiso district Resident Commissioner Rose Kirabira called for unity among women saying that it would help them deal with their problems.

Kirabira appealed to the women not to forget their responsibilities in homes as they work for development and that they need to continue respecting their husbands.

She hailed minister Galabuzi for developing grass root women saying that many leaders had neglected such women.

Greater Kakiri woman chairperson, Maria Nagayi, asked minister Galabuzi to find markets for their goods. "We produce many things but our problem is lack of markets. We end up selling our goods at very low prices," said Nagayi.
